Love Note #12: The Invitation of 2025

Dear Heart,

I'm writing to you as we enter into the sacred gap between the old year and the new year, a liminal space that holds profound potential for the soul’s unfolding. These last days of December offer us a rare pause, a creative breath between what has been and what is yet to emerge.

There's something deeply powerful about how we cross thresholds, the way we end, the way we pause and the way we take our first step into a new beginning. As we approach the new year, I feel the ring of a clarion call—an invitation to get real and walk the earth with both feet planted in what is. The world doesn't need us dreaming–it asks with every breath and birdcall for us to show up here, now, with our hearts open and rising to the occasion of this very moment. I invite you to empty yourself of everything older than this breath, this pulse, this holy now and join me in opening to the depth of a refresh that only presence can provide.

What if 2025 became the year you came home to the love that you are? Not through striving or more spiritual experiences, but through a radical turning toward the simple presence that you already are–the radiant, vibrating, aware field of love that's looking out through your eyes right now. This love that lives at the heart of everything emanates and soothes, and lights up our bodies with its pure vibrating presence.

These threshold moments invite us to slip out of our daily costumes and rest in raw being. Here we shed our crusty accumulations, our historic sense of ourselves and our lives, to be unmade, rest and be refreshed in the waters of our being, and to start again, filled with the light of presence. The sacred birth canal, available in the space between here and there, holds a unique opportunity to let what is old die, to rest deeply and to be informed by simple being. Here we ready ourselves for what is to come, with fresh eyes and softened hearts.

A new beginning is worthy of a pause. This new year, given the state of our world, calls us to release and compost the old ways and join hands and hearts in birthing the new, personally and collectively. If we have access to teachings, to the love in our hearts, to deeper levels of consciousness, we carry a particular ability to lend what insight and light we have to the collective, in simple, daily ways. Part of the new can be inviting ourselves, even challenging ourselves, to stretch the focus on our own evolution to lending what we have to our collective evolution. We can actualize and spill into the world the love that we can touch, the love that we know, and the kindness we have to share.

Love can become woven into our culture through the small and large acts of the softened heart. We can enter each moment–whether at the post office, with our neighbor, or with a challenging family member–as an agent of love. We can make small decisions to replace our B-game with our A-game, not from self-flagellation but from a simple inquiry: How can I contribute to a beautiful love-filled world in this moment? How can I lend myself more fully to what's right here? How can I embody what I’ve been learning about and touching into in my spiritual practice in my daily life?

We need places to gather that call to our depths and call out our best. Places to pause, to rest, to heal, to be inspired and to rise, again and again, to love’s call. This threshold between years can be a place like this–to take advantage of the symbolic power of this historic tradition of celebrating the new year by taking some kind of pause to reflect, to digest, to rest and to be inspired. Whatever you're carrying, this threshold between years offers a sacred space to be nourished exactly as you are. To marinate in presence, to let the old compost, and to allow the seeds in the dark to feel the shine of your own presence.

Let’s step into 2025 holding hands in presence, opening to the unknown, inviting the Holy to inspire and infuse our journey from its very first breath. It's remarkably powerful how you enter a year–what first step you take toward the new. Let's begin 2025 soaked in presence, open to the mystery of what wants to emerge through us.

With love and reverence for the seeds of light in you,

Jeannie
