Love Note #13: What Are You Really Here For?
Dear Heart,
What if 2025 is the year? The year you move from dabbling at the edges of your heart's deepest longing to diving all the way in. The year you turn toward what you're REALLY here for–not just in meditation, not just in glimpses, but in the full-hearted, messy, glorious dance of everyday living.
I remember the moment I said a dangerous prayer: "Give me nothing that I want!" I had seen that when I didn’t get what I thought I needed, and felt to the bottom of the longing, that something opened there that was free from all wanting, fullness itself. So I thought I’d take it all the way. And life took me at my word, stripped me of every hidey-hole and coping mechanism until all that was left was this raw, simple presence. What I discovered in that stripping away wasn't some disembodied, blissed-out spiritual state–it was the pulsing actuality of love itself, running through every cell, every breath, every mundane moment of being alive.
This presence we are–this simple noticing awareness–isn't found in some far-off mystical state. It's right here, as close as your next breath, as immediate as the feel of your body's weight settling into your seat. When we let our attention sink below the scampering mind into the actual feel of being here, we discover a field of benevolent aliveness that transforms everything it touches. There's an energy here that can only be called love–radiant, emanating, soothing the body and softening it into a vibrational field of light.
But oh, the landing here fully! It asks everything of us. It asks us to come naked, with nothing in our pockets, no spiritual achievements pinned to our chest. The mind may protest–"What about all my plans? My becoming? My figuring it out?" Yet as we learn to soften and receive, something extraordinary begins to permeate our being. We become like those old growth forests or ancient cathedrals–spaces where silence and aliveness dance as one.
These times of great unraveling are a profound invitation to remember and embody the love we've always been. The world doesn't need more spiritual bypassing or fantasies of human perfection–it needs your whole heart, where human and divine unite in love's embodying crucifixion and joy.
The world is aching not for more spiritual achievements and experiences nor perfectly curated personas, but for human beings who dare to live from the depths and realness of their hearts. Who are willing to be utterly human AND radiantly divine. Who meet life's intensifying challenges with clear eyes and tender grace.
What if this is the year you stop waiting or delaying? What if this is the year you claim what you're actually here for and live it with everything you've got? Not tomorrow, not when you've figured it all out, but now, in this very moment.
I see it happening with people all around me–this turning towards truth, this willingness to let love have its way with us. Whether it comes as a desperate prayer in the dark of night or a quiet resolve in the heart, something is stirring in the human family, calling us to remember what we essentially are.
Let's make this the year we really live it.
In the fierce embrace of what is,
Jeannie
