Love Note #7: Love, No Matter What
Dear Hearts -
In these times of profound uncertainty and entrenched division, I am struck by how vital it is that we each reclaim our ability to trust our own perceptions and inner knowing as we seek to embody the truth and live as love in this world. As we face widespread collective distortion in every direction, each of us, more than ever, is being asked to embody our capacity to discern and make sense of things, stand in our own experience, trust our inner knowing, and at times, without fanfare or vitriol, speak simple truths that may contradict the perspectives of others.
Many of us have been deeply conditioned, over many generations, to disconnect from our natural ability to trust ourselves and our direct experience of reality. We've learned to doubt our deep knowing, to override our body's innate wisdom, to seek and defer to external authority rather than trusting our direct perceptions and heart's intuitive guidance. And yet, to be grounded, sovereign, embodied humans in touch with actual reality—to be vessels through which love's intelligence can move in these challenging times—we need a well-honed capacity to trust our own perceptions and stand firmly in what we sense to be true.
When we operate from unexamined assumptions, inherited mythology, and conceptual overlays rather than from our embodied wisdom, we become vulnerable to manipulation, to being swept along by collective fear and division, as well as to becoming unwitting vehicles and amplifiers of that distortion. Instead of serving as clear-seeing warriors of love, we can find ourselves caught in the undertow of distortion, blame, and other mechanisms that reinforce separation.
The way forward begins with returning to our direct experience—to the moment-to-moment felt sense of our bodies—and engaging our lives from this core of embodied wisdom. Much of the journey of becoming anchored presences of love involves learning to trust in the wholeness of our knowing, from the ground up. It means reclaiming our natural capacity to discern truth from falsehood, love from fear, actual reality from distortion. This is the foundation of my teaching and my invitation to you.
What I seek to help people do is remember how much they already know—to recognize and trust these fine instruments we call bodies, to reclaim our whole awareness of what is, and to practice devoting ourselves to the simplicity of love's truth even when it feels like we're standing alone. Through this process, we can begin to be the healing presences our world so desperately needs—clear-seeing, tender-hearted, and unshakeable in our commitment to living as love.
In times that can feel overwhelming and deeply uncertain, we're invited to discover what in us remains steadfast—the heart's capacity to know and live truth, to be vessels of love no matter what. This is our call in these times: to reclaim our sovereign authority as expressions of love, to trust our embodied knowing, and express this essential clarity in our lives and world.
I invite you to check out Anchored in Love Soothie: A Post-Election Meditation that I did just after the election, to invite us to remember, root in, and radiate our essence as love.
